Bringing communities together through art music!

WHO WE ARE

The Yellow Door Concert Series was founded in 2018, by Alexandria musicians, Robyn and Vaughn Ambrose.

Our mission is to bring communities together to experience live art music in a way that is a look back in time, to the parlor concerts of the early 20th century. We recognized a clear need to create small intimate listening opportunities for musicians and audiences to gather and share.

What We Do

image10

We offer audiences the opportunity to interact with some of the areas most sought after and celebrated musicians in an intimate and comfortable setting.  Each concert begins with a  30 minute meet and greet with light food and beverage.  The concert will be 75 minutes and will wrap up with  another opportunity to connect with one another and the musicians.

Bring the Yellow Door to You

Live at Ira Ludwick Salon

If you would like to host a concert in your home or small venue, please contact us. We will be happy to discuss options and pricing with you.

Our concerts are non ticketed and seating is limited, so spaces are filled on a first come first served basis.  Because the concerts are not ticketed, we  recommend a $20 donation - proceeds will compensate the musicians.

  • Shannon Gunn -  Trombone
  • Aaron Broadus - Trumpet
  • Allyn Johnson - Piano

We will begin the evening with lite bites and an artist meet and greet 30 minutes before the music starts. All food and beverage will be provided. Please note, there is no alcohol permitted on site. As always, we will be taking donations for our musicians at the door- show your love!

We are thrilled that we have outgrown our home with this venture, but do not want to lose the intimacy and community orientation of this performance concept. We truly hope to use this platform to bring our community together through the joy of music. If you know someone who would love to join us- BRING THEM!!! Share the invite- we would love to have them.

Charlie Parker with Strings Project

The Charlie Parker with Strings Project:

The power and magic of collaboration is beautifully illustrated with the iconic recording of Charlie Parker with Strings. Charlie Parker is arguably the most influential alto player in history, and when he joined forces with a powerhouse group of classical musicians a fresh platform was created. The marriage of jazz and classical idioms opened a gateway for lovers of both genres to explore the other, in a  time when these paths would likely have remained uncrossed.

The cultural relevance and significance of these recordings lives on today, as we recognize the importance and necessity in bringing people together through music. This language is universal, regardless of your past, present or future. Music transcends our differences and is the greatest gift we can give to bring people together.

This performance will feature the original 13 piece studio instrumentation,
