Yellow Door Concert Series
Yellow Door Concert Series
The Yellow Door Concert Series was founded in 2018, by Alexandria musicians, Robyn and Vaughn Ambrose.
Our mission is to bring communities together to experience live art music in a way that is a look back in time, to the parlor concerts of the early 20th century. We recognized a clear need to create small intimate listening opportunities for musicians and audiences to gather and share.

Jazz at Meade (JAM) is one of the area's most interesting and intimate live jazz venues. Jazz enthusiasts from around the DMV gather at Meade Church six months out of the year at 4pm to enjoy an afternoon of wonderful music, great conversation and refreshments.

Now in our 19th year, you can experience monthly concerts on fourth Sunday during the month of April, May, June, September, October and November. JAM is regarded as one of the "best kept secrets" of the Alexandria music scene. Come out and enjoy the music as we strive to "Keep Jazz Alive"!

JAZZ AT MEADE (JAM) and YELLOW DOOR CONCERT SERIES!

Jazz At Meade (JAM) with support from Yellow Door Concert Series, welcomes Petra Martin Quartet for the opening concert of the season: Sunday, April 26, 2026, 4pm until 6pm.
For more than two decades, Petra Martin has captivated audiences with her rich, soulful voice and deep passion for storytelling through music. Trained by renowned jazz balladeer Ronnie Wells and pianist Ron Elliston, she refined her artistry at The Elliston Music Studio for Jazz Study while collaborating with some of Washington, D.C.’s finest musicians. Her performances blend emotional depth with artistry, spanning jazz standards, bossa nova, samba, R&B, pop, blues, gospel, and soul to create a versatile and personal musical experience. Petra has performed at distinguished venues and events such as the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, BlackRock Center for the Arts, and the historic Mr. Henry’s, and has appeared on Living Local DMV. She continues to enchant audiences with her expressive vocals, dynamic stage presence, and unwavering love for music.

Jazz At Meade (JAM) with support from Yellow Door Concert Series, welcomes Joshua Mercado and James Ambrose Quintet for the 2nd concert of the season: Sunday, May 24, 2026, 4pm until 6pm.
The Joshua Mercado and James Ambrose Quintet is a product of William Paterson University's storied jazz legacy. A chance meeting at a Black Sudent Union Alumni Celebration sparked a friendship that now drives their dynamic presence on the bandstand. With deep roots in the jazz tradition and a forward-looking spirit, the quintet is as committed to honoring the music as they are to sharing it with the next generation.

Jazz At Meade (JAM) with support from Yellow Door Concert Series, welcomes The Eric Williams / Justin Mendez Quartet for the 3rd concert of the season: Sunday, June 28, 2026, 4pm until 6pm.
Rooted in the jazz tradition yet always reaching forward, the Eric Williams / Justin Mendez Quartet crafts a sound that is at once familiar and fresh. Their performances are built on expressive improvisation and a deep musical rapport—the kind that can only come from genuine connection between musicians. Whether drawing from the classic vocabulary of jazz or pushing into new territory, they bring creativity and groove to every stage they share.

We offer audiences the opportunity to interact with some of the areas most sought after and celebrated musicians in an intimate and comfortable setting. Each concert begins with a 30 minute meet and greet with light food and beverage. The concert will be 75 minutes and will wrap up with another opportunity to connect with one another and the musicians.

If you would like to host a concert in your home or small venue, please contact us. We will be happy to discuss options and pricing with you.

Our concerts are non ticketed and seating is on a first come first served basis. Because the concerts are not ticketed, we recommend a $20-$25 donation - proceeds will compensate the musicians and fund future Yellow Door projects.
